The 3rd generation Celica was launched in the UK, in February 1982 followed by the Celica-Supra in August of the same year.
The 2.0XT Celica was sold as a coupe and a liftback, both cars used the same drive train, both coupe and liftback where offered as a manual and automatic, this also included the 2.8 Celica-Supra.
