Guide on boost controller install and vsv disable

Ok, Before we start you should have something looking similar to the picture below:

First step

Is to remove the afm (disconnect the afm harness from the afm using the spring clip) and then remove the complete induction pipework (usually easier to just undo the clamp at the turbo (and the 2x hoses that go into the head) and pull the whole thing free, also move the fusebox to one side (makes it easier to get in there), I have used blue hoses so they stand out more and you can see them, yours will be black, so you should have it looking something like this:

2nd step

Remove both of the hoses from the turbo and vsv (vacuum switching valve) so it should look like this:

3rd step

Using some spare hosing get 2x pieces and use a bolt or screw etc... to block one end of each hose off, then attach it to the vsv pipes and secure with clamps, you could just cut the hose and block the ends off, but its very fiddly.!

4th step

Measure the length of hosing you will need for the turbo and actuator hose's, depending on whether you are fitting a manual relief type valve or an electronic boost controller you might need to have different hose length, ideally with a manual relief type you want enough to place it somewhere where you can adjust it if needed, usually around the battery area is good.
If it's an electronic type controller then the hoses can be shorter as they just go to the controllers solenoid, so you can decide the best place for it, usually somewhere cold is preferred so under the afm is ideal.

So your turbo should now look like this:

5th step

Make sure the hoses are connected tightly and have no splits etc... in them, and when connecting the hoses from the turbo/actuator to the relief valve or EBC solenoid make sure you get them the right way round!.

6th step

When you have finished positioning your relief valve or solenoid, you can put the afm and induction hose's back on the turbo/head.

Important

Don't forget to re-connect the afm wiring harness, if you don't your car will not start, so if that happens you know you have forgotten to connect it backup! (trust me it's an easy mistake to make).

Hopefully this guide will help you install your boost controller and disable the vsv at the same time.

Tips:

To give you more room, you can remove the intercooler, but you should be able to do it without needing too.
Use a marker pen on the solenoid so you know where to connect the turbo hose and the actuator hose on it.
Disconnect the battery if you think you might short it out.!
